Can sensor 6 on the Flukso be used to monitor the P1 port on NL smart meters?

I live in NL, have 3-phase service, and will install a PV plant soon and want to monitor it. And if I want to monitor the PV plant production I should also monitor the house electric consumption. But it seems a challenge to separate the two; my father is an EE and is visiting soon so he can help me if the breakerbox and clamps and/or addition of DIN rail meters with S0 ports could be arranged in a satisfactory manner.

But, there may be a better solution because I will also receive a smart meter which will allow reading from the P1 port both consumption and delivery to the grid, as well as gas consumption. When searching for P1 port monitoring solutions with Flukso not much came up other than https://www.flukso.net/files/presentations/flukso.20121026.sensorboard.pdf

So question is, can Flukso v2 available now interrogate the P1 port? Or is this something that could be enabled with a sw update? Or, if this will not be possible with the v2 HW, any suggestions for the simplest topology?

Thanks!
Chris

Hi Chris,

For more info on the proper placement of the CT's in the presence of PV generation, please have a look at this and this forum post.

Regarding Dutch smart meter read-out via the P1 port, the hardware presented at EC1210 has been fully tested and is now in production. I cannot give you an exact availability date yet, but end of January looks very plausible.

Hi Bart,

Great news!

So just to double-check, using the hw currently in the webshop and a sw release planned for Q1 2013 it will be possible to use the Fluksometer sensor 6 to collect energy and gas info from the P1 connected Dutch smart meter. Then add a clamp or inline DIN rail meter + S0 sensor on the PV circuit to get PV production. Because we have discrete in/out energy data from the P1 the Flukso portal will then display (or can be made to display) both consumption and generation accurately. Likewise for the feed to pvoutput.org.

Is this all correct? If so this is a very straightforward solution to the production mingling with consumption problem if you have a smart meter with P1.

Kind Regards,
Chris

Well, the FLM will need to have a different daughter board internally for P1 read-out compatibility. That daughter board is now in production.

In order to separate production from consumption we'll have to add PV production to net consumption (as measured by the smart meter, can be + or -) to obtain 'gross' consumption, meaning the consumption of all your electrical loads and thus always +.

Excellent to hear that the new FLM is in production.
I have a FLM of the previous version. Is it possible to order the new daughter board separately and upgrade my FLM? Or would you not recommend it?

The plan is to offer the new daughter boards separately as well. However, for proper operation the FLM's bootloader needs to be updated prior to the sensor board replacement. That's going to be the tricky part. I do have some ideas to include this operation in a firmware upgrade. This requires some further testing though.

i would like to order a flukso for netmetering and solar, should I wait a bit longer for the next release?
or just buy and add the extension a bit later?

thanks

I too am looking forward to Flukso v2.2, the extra pulse inputs are precisely what I'm looking for. Will pre-orders start being accepted soon?

@ Fonnie.

I use the current Flukso with good sucess for both Consumption and Solar.
Currently using 2 x Din rail kw/h meters with SO ports but used CC (clamps) sucessfully before that. Only issue was the clamp didnot go to "0" at night on solar.
Both show on the Flukso site Dash.
I also use PvOutput.org to show even more data and analysis options.
