I'm looking for a way to monitor the household electricity consumption.
my installation is 3-phase and I have a PV installation.
I understand that it is possible to measure both the generated and consumed amount of electricity, but it I do not understand how a difference can be made between the injected and consumed amount can be measured. In other words, the using 3 clamps is it possible to detect the direction of the current? If so, is a scheme for mounting the clamps available?
You can use 3 clamps for the 3 phase and one din rail meter for the solar, or you can fit 4 din rail meters.
Cant remember if the earlier Flukso can use 4 current clamps?
@Bazzle,
thanks for your reply.
Do the current clamps measure the sum of the generated and consumed current and do I thus have to substract the generated power from the measured value by the current clamps to calculate the consumed power?
I don't have 3 phase but there are a few posts on here on how to configure it.
Is the solar only one phase? if so the solar clamp or pulse meter should be between the solar switch in the switchboard and the output from your inverter. (or in that wire somewhere)That will show only solar generated as that current will only flow in one direction.
@Bazzle,
Invertor is also 3 phases (Kostal Piko 8.3)
The clamp method will only measure energy flow in one direction. So proper clamp placement is required when a PV installation is present. Please check this and this forum post on proper fuse box wiring for separating consumption and production readings.
