using the clamp for more then one cable

Hello,
I want to measure my power comsumption of a heating pump that is installed with two 3-phase fuses, one for the unit in the house and one for the external unit.
Actual i want to measure the total power of the 2 fuses.

Is it possible to use one clamp per phase with a transit for 2 cables (one of fuse of innerunit and one for fuse of outdoor unit)
And this set-up for the 3 phases i have.

Will i have in this case a correct monitoring of the total comsumption ?

Thank in advance
Regards
Jurgen

Hi Jurgen

Provided the two conductors passing through each clamp are from identical phases and that the current clamp opening is big enough to hold the two conductors, you should be fine.

If the cables are slightly too big for the opening and they force the split core apart, it will underread. I had this problem when I first installed the flukso clamp (2x4mm2 wires and 2x2.5mm2 wires through the one clamp).

With another energy monitor I put the solar AC wire through the clamp in addition to the main wire, so that the clamp measured the house load (solar current cancelled out).

Juergen,

why don't you put the clamps in front of the two fuse blocks? They will be connectet together after the mains fuse.
